Postpartum Doula

As a postpartum doula I am there to help make the transition from pregnancy to having a newborn in your home as easy as possible. There are many factors that lead to the 4th trimester being a very overwhelming and trying time.

My role as a postpartum doula truly varies from family to family. There are some families where we go over how to use a pump, sometimes I do 5 loads of laundry, sometimes I hold your baby while I sweep and you nap, sometimes we process a difficult birth - it’s what YOU need.

I will not be serving as a postpartum doula in the year 2022 since I will be in the postpartum time myself! I will take inquiries beginning for those due in 2023!

Pricing

$30 an hour

Hiring a postpartum doula is similar to hiring a birth doula. You need someone you are comfortable having in your space. It is a precious and raw time immediately following birth. I offer a free 30 minute consultation; and if hired, I include a 1 hour meeting in your home to sign a contract and get a home tour. I have clients sign a contract and pay a $50 down payment because I do not work with more than two postpartum families a month and this protects my time so I can serve my families in the way that they need.

Most postpartum shifts are four hours long. If you need me for longer, that is something we can discuss in our consultation or after you hire me. I am there to help with cooking, cleaning, feeding baby, and making sure you are transitioning well.

Client Testimonial

“It was tremendously helpful to have Abby's calm expertise while she talked us through our daughter's first bath, first fingernail trim, and first bottle. I remember feeling so grateful and confident, leaving Abby rocking Nora one fussy night while Will and I went for a walk. She provided invaluable breastfeeding support, calmed our new-parent anxieties, and helped ease the burden of household tasks, always leaving us with clean dishes and laundry. Even outside of her visits, Abby was always available by phone or text whenever questions came up -- even talking me through using my breast pump over Zoom and looking at pictures of my daughter’s umbilical cord stump to reassure me everything looked normal! Her enthusiasm for supporting new parents was obvious, and I am so glad she helped us welcome Nora to the world.”
